Description: Created a geodatabase and ArcGIS folder structure for data processing and editing. Identified the study sites and created polygon features for the GIS selections. Download related existing datasets from the NOAA and FEMA web sites. Ground shore structures not spatially identified by FEMA or NOAA were manually added using on screen digitizing in the GIS software. The most recent available ortho imagery was used as a base.
Name: Areas Excluded in Living Shoreline Site Suitability Analysis
Display Field: TOWN
Type: Feature Layer
Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon
Description: This shapefile contains excluded areas in the Living Shoreline Site Suitability Analylsis, statewide. Excluded areas in the bathymetry layer contains interpolated areas where the 1 meter contour line was greater than 90 meters from shore, as specified from living shoreline design guidelines. Or in other words, areas that were not shallow enough for site suitability were removed. Fetch areas where the USGS Wind Fetch Model produced unbounded (negative) fetch values were excluded from analysis. Unbounded fetch are artifiacts from the USGS Wind Fetch tool, which was the tool used to produce fetch in the living shoreline site suitability analysis. (For more information on the fetch tool, please check here: http://on.doi.gov/1QSOdP8). Erosion data was obtained from Connecticut's Shoreline Change Analysis. Erosion areas where there was no data or where it was classified as 'industrialized waterfront' were removed from analysis.
